Waypoint

A hyperlocal errand marketplace for dense institutional communities: university campuses and hospital compounds, where someone always needs something picked up and someone nearby is happy to do it.

Why this, why here

Ghanaian campuses have high foot traffic, small transaction sizes and a lot of informal trust. Most delivery apps are built for the opposite: long distances, big baskets, strangers. Waypoint is scoped around how errands actually get done on a campus today, through people who live and walk nearby.

How it works

  • Two roles in one app: posters describe an errand, runners nearby pick it up. The Flutter client has separate flows for each.
  • A Node.js and PostgreSQL backend handles geolocation-aware job matching and real-time status as an errand moves from posted to delivered.
  • Free to use. Runners earn through voluntary tips paid into an in-app wallet, which rewards good runners without taxing every errand.
  • Trust comes from proximity and community first, ratings second. On a campus, the person running your errand is probably in your hall.
